The Wolverine posterC’mon, it’s Hugh Jackman, ripped. Does anything else really matter? If so, then you may have some issues with the movie’s inconsistent plot and dialogue. But all things considered, The Wolverine is a fast-paced, stunt-fueled, entertaining flick about the brooding “X-Men” superhero who’s blessed – and cursed – with immortality and metal claws.

This latest foray into Wolverine’s story arc takes the iconic X-Man Logan (Jackman) to modern-day Japan, where a dying Japanese soldier-turned-businessman wants to thank Logan for saving his life during the atomic bombing of Nagasaki at the end of World War Two. But that’s not all the guy wants. Turns out, he and a mutant doctor want a taste of Logan’s immortality. Their shenanigans trigger a series of events involving a bunch of samurai soldiers, a beautiful damsel in distress (Tao Okamoto), and a kick-ass sidekick (Rila Fukushima) who has Logan’s back.

The Wolverine takes place after X-Men 3 and sets the stage for Logan’s character in the next installment of that franchise. So you’ll want to stick around through the credits for a sneak peak!
