“I’m comin’ up so you better get this party started.” Oh yeah, okay. I do know some PINK music!

PINK: All I Know So Far was smart to start with that concert performance snippet to draw me into the story of a popstar I don’t know much about, though I was generally familiar with her music, her flair and of course her hair. The documentary takes us behind the scenes of Pink’s record-breaking 2019 “Beautiful Trauma” world tour as she juggles being a mom, a performer, and a boss. For the most part, it’s typical concert documentary fare (see: recent docs Billie Eilish and The Boy From Medellin). And, for the most part, it does what it was obviously meant to do –making Pink more relatable as a person, sans makeup and all, even when holed up in a high-end suite overlooking the canals of Amsterdam with her hubby and two young kids in tow.

Pink (aka aka Alecia Beth Moore) executive produced the doc, so the perspective is very deliberate with an orchestrated narrative that she most certainly conducted. The film makes clear that Pink is in charge – of her music, her shows, and her family, though her husband and baby daddy – professional motorcycle racer Carey Hart – earns big points for providing the kind of support that makes Pink’s parenthood goals attainable. The film also underscores Pink’s talents on stage, deftly showcased by director Michael Gracey (The Greatest Showman).

The documentary counts down the days to a massive concert at Wembley Stadium in London as Pink lays bare her own insecurities while struggling to meet the needs, demands and personalities of daughter Willow Sage (9) and son Jameson Moon (4), as well as her ‘production family.’ She comes off as a pretty cool mom and unapologetic nonconformist who wants to raise her children to embrace that freedom of expression.

In many ways, she’s just like any other working mom, trying to keep it all together while making sure the kids stay safe and grounded.

Bottom line: PINK: All I Know So Far is an entertaining watch for the diehard and even casual admirer of Pink – the person and/or the performer.

PINK: All I Know So Far is available May 21 on Amazon Prime Video.
